It’s officially allergy season here in Northfield, IL. In addition to red eyes and runny noses, pollen is everywhere, and perhaps most notably on our cars.

If you’re tired of seeing that yellowish film on your Jaguar, now is a good time to give it a good scrubbing. However, because you’re washing a luxury car, there are some things you’ll want to keep in mind, so to help you out, our Jaguar service experts have compiled these handy car-washing tips.

Get the Right Soap

If you have ever gone down the car-washing aisle in an auto parts store, you know that there are quite a few cleaning products to choose from. This is because cars need special cleaners designed not only to clean, but also not to hurt the paint on your car.

Dish soap, on the other hand, will dull your car’s finish, as well as strip off any wax. It’s best to avoid household cleaners altogether.

Stay Out of Direct Sunlight

When you set out to wash your car, do your best to keep it out of direct sunlight. When the sun heats up the surface of your car, any soap left on your vehicle may dry up before you can rinse it, creating spots that will be hard to get rid of.

Use Two Buckets

While you’re out buying the right car soap, make sure to pick up two buckets as well. As you set out to clean your car, make sure one bucket contains soap and water while the other just contains water. Use your water bucket to rinse off your towel after scrubbing your car.
