Even if you’re extremely careful, there is always a chance that you may lock your keys inside your car. Our Jaguar service center has some tips that can help you avoid this annoying situation.

Carry a Spare Key

If you always have an extra key with you, you will never have to worry about being locked out. There are a couple of caveats with this, however, like having to remember to bring it with you whenever you go somewhere. You need to have your spare key on you at all times so it doesn’t also get locked in your car.

Secondly, if you don’t already have a spare key fob, know that duplicates can be a little pricey. It’s not just a matter of copying them anymore, as key fobs also need to be programmed.

Use a Key Holder

We’ve all seen the fake rocks that hide spare keys, but did you know that there is something sort of similar that you can get for your car?

There are small magnetic boxes that attach to the exterior of your car and can hold spare keys. They have to be put in a spot that isn’t too obvious, however, as a stolen car is much worse than being locked out.

Get a Digital Key

You no longer need a physical key to unlock your car doors. Newer models will allow you to get a digital key.

With a digital key, you’ll have access to an app that will let you control key vehicle functions, including locking and unlocking. You will also be able to start your car remotely.
