If you’re a fan of Jaguar models, you know that the brand has a long history and racing pedigree that’s hard to top. Even the Jaguar SUVs you find here at Jaguar Northfield will impress you with their performance. Now the Jaguar brand is bringing back a classic name, decades after its first appearance. The Jaguar D-Type is making a comeback.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Jaguar D-Type, this classic racing car was first manufactured in 1956. The plan was to build 100 of them total, but only seventy-five were actually produced. The Jaguar brand has decided that now’s the perfect time to manufacture those remaining twenty-five. People who see you driving this car will know that you know your racing history.

Two kinds of models will be available. Both the “Shortnose” and “Longnose” versions will be equipped with a six-cylinder XK engine. This is the same engine that powered the Jaguar D-Type in its major Le Mans wins in 1955, 1956, and 1957. These cars were driven by racing legends, and the Jaguar brand will manufacture all twenty-five of these new vehicles to their classic specifications. You’ll have a hard time finding a more authentic racecar.

The new Jaguar D-Type will make its official debut at a classic car show in Paris later this month. At that point, we’ll get to learn more about its features and pricing. We look forward to seeing this iconic car hit the road once again!

This is a limited edition model, but don’t despair! It’s easy to find a new or pre-owned Jaguar vehicle that you’ll love at our Jaguar dealership serving Highland Park, IL. We’re ready to help you purchase a luxury car that suits your budget and driving needs. We hope to see you soon!
