When you’re driving your Jaguar SUV from Jaguar Northfield, a flat tire is always on the bottom of the list in terms of what you are expecting when you leave the house. Today, we want to make sure you know what you can do in the event of a flat tire, and what Jaguar Northfield can do to ensure your vehicle is taken care of afterward.

The most important thing to do when you experience a blowout is to maintain control – lower your speed safely, keep both hands on the wheel, and hit your hazard lights as soon as safely possible to let other drivers know what’s going on. Pull off and try to find as safe a place as possible to fix a flat tire. Most vehicles have a spare tire kit consisting of a spare, a tire iron, and a scissor-jack to fix the problem. If you have more than one tire blown out, it’s time to call Jaguar’s roadside assistance or your insurance company to help.

If it’s just one tire, the kit can take care of it. Loosen the lug nuts on the flat with your tire iron, then use the scissor jack to lift the vehicle up. Remove the tire, and then see if the spare’s lugs match the wheel studs. If you can’t fit it, then raise the jack up more until you can. Once the spare is mounted, you can hand-tighten the lug nuts to the wheel to get it in place. From there, you can let the jack down and finish tightening the lugs with your tire iron.

Where should your next stop be? Well, to our Chicago Jaguar service center. Our expert technicians will make sure your vehicle wasn’t affected in other ways by the blowout and provide you with a new tire and wheel, if necessary. Take care out there, and see you soon, hopefully just for scheduled maintenance on your Jaguar.
